Description
The Rubik RB-MIA3/B3(L) is a dual color LED medium intensity aviation obstruction light combining a medium intensity white flashing light for daytime and twilight operation with a red flashing light for night operation. ICAO and FAA compliant. The white daytime mode provides a nominal intensity of 20,000 cd, while the red nighttime mode provides a nominal intensity of 2,000 cd. The optical system provides 360° horizontal coverage with a specified 3° vertical divergence.
The unit is designed for aviation obstacle marking applications requiring automatic transition between daytime white obstruction lighting and nighttime red obstruction lighting. A built in photocell controls the operating mode according to ambient light conditions.

Dual Color Operation
The RB-MIA3/B3(L) combines white and red LED obstruction lighting in a single housing. The built in photocell automatically changes the operating mode according to ambient lighting conditions.
During daylight and twilight conditions, the unit operates using the white LED obstruction light. At night, the unit changes to the red LED obstruction light.
This arrangement allows one obstruction light assembly to provide both daytime white and nighttime red aviation obstacle marking.
Optical Characteristics
The optical system provides 360° horizontal light distribution with a specified vertical divergence of 3°.
The daytime white LED section is rated at 20,000 cd or greater, while the nighttime red LED section is rated at 2,000 cd or greater.
Automatic Photocell Control
A built in photocell detects ambient light conditions and automatically switches between the white daytime operating mode and red nighttime operating mode.
This eliminates the need for manual switching between daytime and nighttime obstruction lighting modes during normal operation.
GPS synchronized flashing is available for installations requiring multiple compatible obstruction lights to flash at coordinated intervals.
GPS synchronization allows individual units to maintain coordinated flash timing without requiring a synchronization cable between each obstruction light.
The optical housing is manufactured from UV protected polycarbonate. The base is manufactured from powder coated die cast aluminium for outdoor installation.
The enclosure provides IP66 ingress protection and is specified for wind speeds up to 80 m/s.
